Client's need
Our client, Mostotrest, the largest bridge-construction company in Russia, planned an Initial Public offering in 2010. In line with the evaluation, the company required a comprehensive analysis of the Russian transport infrastructure market, and growth projection for the sector to 2015.
Our deliverables
The research began with an overview and prognosis of the overall macroeconomic conditions in the country and their impact on the construction sector. The detailed analysis of the three main segments of the construction sector, the residential, commercial and civil engineering sectors, provided background information on the macroeconomic and construction sector environment.
The overall macroeconomic conditions and the analysis of the overall construction sector provided a background for a thorough assessment of the transport infrastructure market in Russia. The segments of transport infrastructure covered and analysed were: roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, airports, ports and internal waterways.
The historical development information, including the previous implementation rates of government programmes, and the scrutinization of the current state of transport infrastructure, set the scene for analysis, prognosis and growth forecasts for each of the transport segments 2010–2015. The forecasts were based on assumed implementation rates for projects and programmes planned by the government to 2015.
The last part of the report discussed the competitor landscape analysis of the entire transport infrastructure segment, with a breakdown into five segments. In this section, Mostotrest’s positioning in each of the segments was assessed and the most important general and sub-contractors were profiled, to provide a comprehensive view of the market.
Value for the client
The project ended with a detailed study of Russia’s transport infrastructure market with growth forecasts, the most comprehensive to date. The investors accepted the report on the market as valid, and were accommodative to PMR’s projections of the market. They found the methodology sound.
