Client's problem:
Our client was one of the five leading manufacturers of testing equipment globally and, as part of the further development of its global market place, they have decided to focus on the Central and Eastern Europe area, specifically Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey. The most interesting segment of the market - the sector for destructive testing machines has been pinpointed as the first one to analyze in the selected markets.
Our solution:
PMR quickly prepared a methodology that allowed us to estimate the market size, analyze competitors strengths and weaknesses, understand what is the best route into the market and what are the buying patterns for users of this type of equipment. As users were, for a large part, public testing institutions, the public procurement rules had to be described with all the necessary details. In the initial stage of the desk research, the project team collected all the information sources available on the analyzed markets and decided which of the users of testing machinery should be interviewed in order to check their needs, current inventory and buying patterns. Through the following stage of primary research we also analyzed the shortcomings of our client's competitors and checked what aspects of our client's offer should be improved to gain the competitive advantage over existing suppliers. In the market analysis process we used a number of independent experts, who use destructive testing techniques in their everyday research and development work.
How the project ended:
The project has been accomplished with a detailed presentation that provided our client with recommendations regarding the markets of testing machinery in Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey.
