Commercial Due Diligence on a Potential Business Partner
 Client's problem:
Our client is a global retailer operating a wide network of stores under various trademarks in its portfolio. To fuel the company’s expansion and development plan in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region our client decided to begin negotiations with a CEE retail group. However, before initiating the discussions we were asked to conduct a Commercial Due Diligence project on the potential business partner and deliver all the necessary information on its background, history, strategy, financial standing, other business relations and also to investigate any other factors that could jeopardise potential future cooperation. |
Our solution:
Based on the client’s requirements and PMR’s own methodology a PMR team started gathering data both from public sources and from contacts with the target company’s stakeholders located outside its structure, in order to gain firsthand knowledge and to understand the general situation of the company and its operations. The process was made even more complicated as the company on which the Commercial Due Diligence was carried out has an opaque shareholder structure, according to which the shareholders are registered in tax havens. Hence, all the information required cross-checking by multiple sources.
