Our client is a global manufacturer of top quality protective structures and natural hazard mitigation measures installed along roads, railroads and pipelines, but also a producer of high quality steel wire bridges and steel nets used in a number of applications. The company wanted to make an initial assessment of the possible opportunities to do business in Russia and therefore asked for a brief market study. |
Our solution:
Since the protective structures and natural hazard mitigation measures installed along roads, railroads and pipelines are still a niche market and in addition they refer to a strategically and an economically sensitive sphere (especially in case of gas and oil pipelines), very little information was available via desk research. Therefore, together with the client, PMR consultants prepared a detailed questionnaire covering all the issues related to the market of protective structures and natural hazard mitigation measures within the interest of the client. Afterwards we have identified all the market players operating on different levels, responsible officials from relevant road and railroad authorities and regulators in charge of the public procurement process as well as persons from standardization organizations which define obligatory norms in the investigated field. We then made contact with the appropriate people and talked to them in order to find out as much relevant and up-to-date information as possible. The gathered data was complemented by in-depth desk research based on specialized press and magazines, sector reports and databases, internet sources, etc.
